Other activities and attractions in easy reach of Balnagown Estate

Balnagown provides an excellent base from which to explore the Northern Highlands, plus south to Speyside and the Cairngorms, and the west coast which is an easy drive taking the Ullapool road. Falls of Shin, which is also owned by Balnagown Estates, is less than 40 minutes away and is one of the best places in Scotland to watch leaping Atlantic Salmon, plus has an excellent visitor centre with licenced restaurant, a gift, clothing and food shop, mini golf, adventure playground, geocaching trail and forest walks.

Close to Balnagown there are a number of golf courses including the world-renowned Royal Dornoch, plus other links courses at Tain, Golspie and Brora. For families staying at Balnagown, there are some excellent beaches close-by including at Dornoch and Embo.

The Moray Firth is a renowned area to watch Bottle Nosed Dolphins, with the population of around 190 being a very special one as it is the most northerly in the world. There are various places to watch the dolphins from the shore, including at North Kessock which is about a 25 minute drive from the estate.

The city of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is just a 30 minute drive to the south and has a wealth of restaurants, shops and visitor attractions.

Other activities and attractions in easy reach of Invercassley Estate

Although once on the estate it may seem very wild and remote, larger towns such as Tain and Dornoch are within easy reach and both have superb links golf courses. Also easily accessible, is the coastal village of Golspie which also has a links golf course plus Dunrobin Castle which has impressive gardens and falconry displays.

And just a twenty minute drive from any of the properties at Invercassley, is Falls of Shin which is one of the best places in Scotland to watch leaping Atlantic Salmon, plus it has an excellent visitor centre with licenced restaurant, coffee shop, a gift, clothing and food shop, mini golf, adventure playground, geocaching trail and forest walks.

The beautiful west coast is an easy drive from all three properties at Invercassley on the road from Rosehall heading west, with Ullapool just a 45 minute drive.

Other activities and attractions in easy reach of Duchally Estate

Although our guests at Duchally Lodge are more inclined to stay on the estate for the duration of their stay and largely because of the privacy and peace and quiet it provides, about an hour’s drive can take guests to towns such as Tain and Dornoch. Here there are golf courses, restaurants and a wide range of shops. Closer still and just thirty minutes’ drive away, is Falls of Shin which is one of the best places in Scotland to watch leaping Atlantic Salmon, plus it has an excellent visitor centre with licenced restaurant, coffee shop, a gift, clothing and food shop, mini golf, adventure playground, geocaching trail and forest walks.
