Meet the Team

It takes a fantastic team effort to run an estate as large as Balnagown.

Behind the scenes our dedicated and multi-talented team work together to make sure the land, livestock, wildlife, people, and buildings of the estate are well looked after. Their hard work ensures that our estate activities and your stay runs smoothly.

The Estate Office Team

Barbara and Sara keep everything on track from the Estate office at the hub of estate life. If you’d like help with anything during your stay, Barbara or Sara are the people to call!

The Housekeeping & Caretaking Team

You might not meet our housekeeping and caretaking team, but you’ll be able to see their work – the team go the extra mile to keep everything in immaculate condition, and to provide a first-class experience for our guests.

Main estate: Shirley, Nicole, and Alison.
Northern Estate (Inveroykel Lodge): Mary, Abby, and Sharon.

The Estate Guardians

The estate has 24-hour security and our friendly estate guardians – Paul, Tony, and Ali – are always available to help if you need anything. One of the team will show you to your accommodation when you check in. We also have two security dogs, Harry and Ben, who we’re sure you will get to know during your stay.

The Groundkeepers & Gardening Team

Taking care of the estate grounds and keeping the gardens looking beautiful in all seasons are our groundkeepers and gardeners, Peter, Mark, and their apprentices Michael and Daniel. They are also ably assisted by Liam and his team at Land-Tech Services.

The Maintenance Team

Can they fix it? Yes, they can! Our highly skilled maintenance team can turn their hand to anything – as well as keeping our buildings in tip-top condition and working well, Grzegorz and his apprentice, Jamie can also turn their hands to building a lovely summerhouse, a wildlife hide, or a jetty.

Head of Guest Services & Apprentice

Alba is a very handsome, portly gentlemen of 8 and Rogie is a rather rambunctious, friendly young pup of 10 months. Both are exceptionally talented and excel in their position. They aim to greet all of the guests at some stage during their stay at Balnagown.

The Farming Team

The estate’s 500 acres of arable is dealt with by our contract farmers. They grow everything from potatoes to barley, winter wheat to oilseed rape. During your stay you are more likely, however, to bump into Harry. Harry oversees our ‘Regenerative Farming Project’ and our ever-increasing herd of cattle. There are currently 31 heads in our herd and we aim to increase the herd size through retention and improving the ground. The Murray Greys were chosen for their placid, nature, good locomotion and their easy calving and care.

Our Apprentices and Interns

Our two apprentices, Jamie and Michael, initially joined us as interns and did so well that we invited them to stay on with us. We’re delighted to say that they have become huge assets to the estate.
